1. PPT Lecture:1977-Present and the Major Themes
Why are we starting at 1977? A very, very important person was born that year, that's why. I wanted to start out with come current history so we get an idea of where all the rest of the stuff we learn is taking us. After all, history is really just a really, really, really long story..right? For a story this long, its helpful to know where the story is going. I want us to identify some of the things going on in the country right now that we can trace back to the start of the nation. Guess what, you'll see that this is true of almost everything! If you understand history, you understand people...and if you understand people you will be a very successful person.

The instructions pretty much speak for themselves and the rubric at the bottom of the assignment clearly explains how you will be scored. Read Chapt 32: Sect.1 in Online Text. All reading assigned for homework is MANDATORY! There will be frequent, unnannounced pop quizzes on these readings. The reading can be found HERE.
